IBM needed an opening video for the IMPACT 2014 event hosted in Las Vegas. The goal for this video was to generate excitement and inspire their partners.
The Internet of Things is an interconnected ecosystem of living, sensing technology. This opening video features IBM Internet of Things solutions connecting systems of record with systems of engagement to create a more meaningful customer experience. The creative concept is based on the relationship between data, information and the real world. By visually exploring this relationship through physically-based animations of abstract concepts, the final animation simplifies complex ideas into an engaging experience.

The video was extremely well received by the audience, and surpassed the client’s expectations.
The project was featured in a series of Design and Animation web articles and was published in the book Motion Graphics by SendPoint, receiving attention for its innovative use of storytelling, design and animation techniques.
The software company that produced the plugin ‘Newton 2’ for After Effects, which was used to simulate the physics animations in this project, featured the IBM IoT video in their demo-reel at “Newton2 NAB Demo Reel” to demonstrate the potential of the plugin.
